Focused especially on adult women, the elderly and community leaders, Farol is a social business conceived and carried out by RDSaúde, which seeks to contribute to health and well-being in the outskirts of the city in an innovative way, expanding opportunities for health promotion and risk prevention.

The actions take place in the Capão Redondo region, in the South Zone of São Paulo, involving the community and local partners. With an innovative approach, the project has a partnership with the Unified Health System (SUS) and seeks to combine pharmaceutical knowledge with traditional practices. Responsible for managing the project, Ferso works on building the roadmap implementation to standardize operations and offer improvements through documentation and systematization of information collected in day-to-day activities.

“We apply an agile, collaborative methodology, involving all partners in the construction of the planning and in the definition of the actions to be carried out. The proposal is to offer the appropriate methodology to ensure that the project is replicable”, explains Barbara Meyer, director of Ferso..

How the Lighthouse project works

The initiative has its pilot phase scheduled to be completed this year and is organized
on four axes:

  • PICS, Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health, with workshops and discussion groups on integrative health;
  • Integrative Pharmacy, educational activities focus on medicinal plants and natural products;
  • Social and community engagement, developed through health-promoting educational activities and the strengthening of support networks;
  • Care Journey, proposal for individual care in integrative health coordinated by a multidisciplinary team.
